I'd call my first day of my WALK IN THE WOODS a huge success. I got up in the morning. Put on my sunscreen screen, strapped on my pedometer and headed out. Of course, Norm stopped me on my way out for a 'photo shoot' and surprised me be asking if I didn't think I should take along his buck knife. "What for?" I asked. ..."Ah...well if you get bored you can whittle a whistle," Norm replied. Silly guy. I don't think that he's seriously worried about me....but ya never know!
Anyway, I met my friend, Linda Hale out at Lake Geode and right away we knew it was going to be an "interesting day." First, we had trouble connecting via cell phone. Not sure if that was the service...or our digital skill sets. LOL Next we both fumbled around with our cameras for about 10 minutes trying to get the 'sef-timers' to work. FINIALLY, we headed out on the trail.
The day couldn't have been more perfect! Beautiful sunshine, but not too warm, and just a little breeze that made those old trees hum background music for our chatter as we tromped along. Hardly any Fall color changes yet but I'll be watching for that as the week goes by!
Linda and I agreed that the goal was to enjoy the forest and not be in a hurry. Good thing. We had to backtrack a couple of times when the trial just seemed to end and not start up again, but all in all it was a perfect 8.8 miles and a wonderful start on my pilgrimage. Thanks Linda for getting me started on this adventure I look forward to plenty more hikes and other adventures with you!
Oh the places I will go!

Well, in this day and age, Frost would have used his gps to make sure he knew whose woods it was and wouldn't have relied on his horse. Probably would do a video and/or picture blog much like you, with time links to know just when the woods filled up with snow. All in the day's life of a writer
